LEED v5: all you need to know

Written by April Nguyen | Aug 9, 2026, 9:40:41 PM

LEED v5 became mandatory for all new projects on 1 July 2026. The update is the most significant restructuring of the rating system in over a decade, with decarbonization now accounting for nearly half of all available certification points.

This free training session covers what changed, what it means in practice, and what your projects need to comply. From new prerequisites on embodied carbon to consolidated materials credits and expanded life cycle assessment requirements, the session gives you a working understanding of the v5 framework and where to focus your efforts first.

What you’ll learn:

  • What changed from LEED v4.1 to v5, and which changes affect your workflow the most
  • How the new embodied carbon prerequisites work and what they require at each project stage
  • How LEED v5 uses life cycle assessment, aligned with ISO 14040/44
  • How the new Building Product Selection and Procurement credit consolidates EPD, sourcing, and material health into one framework

Who should attend the training:

  • Architects, engineers, and sustainability consultants working on LEED-certified projects
  • LCA professionals and ESG leaders in construction and real estate
  • Product manufacturers supplying materials to LEED projects

Duration: 60 minutes, including Q&A
