Helsinki, April 9th 2025 – Aalto EE (Aalto University Executive Education and Professional Development), in collaboration with One Click LCA, has launched a new online course, "Sustainability Toolbox for Building Designers", to equip architects and engineers with the skills to integrate sustainability into their projects. The educational content of the course has been designed by experts from the Department of Architecture at Aalto University, and it incorporates the One Click LCA Software as part of the learning experience.
The course offers practical training in life-cycle assessment (LCA), carbon footprint analysis, material efficiency, and regulatory compliance. Participants will learn to integrate sustainability into their projects using data-driven methodologies and digital tools. The program combines expert-led instruction with real-world case studies, enabling professionals to make informed design decisions that align with industry standards and sustainability goals.
By bridging academic expertise with practical applications, Aalto EE and One Click LCA are helping building designers take a proactive role in decarbonizing the built environment.
The collaboration marks a significant step in advancing green skills within the industry. As part of Aalto EE's broader strategy to expand its offerings beyond traditional degree programs into continuous learning, the course responds to the increasing need for sustainability expertise among building designers and other industry professionals.
"I have been collaborating with One Click LCA in various projects that have sought to mitigate climate impacts in the built environment. We have also been using their tools on our courses, and in several research projects. The portfolio of tools and datasets are broad, which supports our academic ambition. Selecting the most competitive and widely-used tool for this online course was an obvious choice. Furthermore, I am delighted to see that the company is having a strong commitment to support the decarbonisation of the built environment."
- Matti Kuittinen, Associate Professor at Aalto University
By joining forces, Aalto EE and One Click LCA share a vision of empowering professionals with the knowledge and skills needed to reduce carbon emissions in the built environment. With new sustainability regulations coming into effect, the demand for practical, effective training has never been greater.
"We are excited to partner with Aalto EE through this course. Educating industry professionals on life-cycle assessment is crucial for enabling data-driven decision-making in sustainable design. This course is an important step in scaling the impact of green skills across the industry."
- Panu Pasanen, CEO & Founder of One Click LCA
As part of Aalto's commitment to providing high-quality education for professionals, the course will be available through Aalto EE’s learning experience platform Alex (alex.fi),, ensuring accessibility to a broad range of industry participants.
