One Click LCA partners with UKGBC to scale sustainable construction

The programme, led by UKGBC, is designed to address the sector’s long-standing challenge of “pilotisation”, where innovative sustainability solutions stall after limited trials and fail to achieve widespread adoption. The initiative aims to close this gap by connecting solution providers with real-world adopters and removing systemic barriers to implementation at scale.

One Click LCA joins a growing coalition of partners — including Buro Happold, Hoare Lea, Landsec, Lloyds Banking Group, Ramboll, and Tuffin Ferraby Taylor — working together to help shift sustainable innovation from demonstration to deployment.

From pilots to scaled impact

The UK built environment is home to numerous proven low-carbon solutions, yet many remain underused. A lack of consistent procurement practices, risk aversion, complex supply chains and limited sector capacity all hinder adoption. The new UKGBC initiative aims to tackle these issues directly by shifting focus from showcasing innovation to enabling practical uptake and solving problems on the ground.

Year one of the initiative will feature:

• A matchmaking service to facilitate targeted connections between innovators and project leads, with a focus on live implementation.

• New research into the structural and behavioural barriers preventing scaling, along with actionable recommendations.

• Case studies from live projects to share practical insights and replicate success elsewhere.

By convening the right actors and creating a shared evidence base, the initiative will help build confidence in scalable solutions and accelerate the sector’s climate transition.
