The collaboration provides Byggtjeneste’s customers with an accessible, cost-effective solution for creating high-quality environmental product declarations (EPDs), enhancing sustainability in Norwegian manufacturing.

Oslo, Norway, October 3, 2024 One Click LCA, the world-leading sustainability software platform for construction and manufacturing, has announced a new strategic partnership with Byggtjeneste, the primary provider of digital and product data in Norway. This collaboration aims to advance sustainability in the Norwegian construction industry by giving Byggtjeneste’s customers access to the One Click LCA’s EPD Generator. The tool is designed to facilitate the creation of EPDs at low costs, without compromising on quality, reducing the time and funds spent on declaring the sustainability impact of construction materials.

The partnership between One Click LCA and Byggtjeneste combines One Click LCA's life-cycle assessment (LCA) and EPD capabilities with Byggtjeneste's in-depth industry data and network to streamline the production of EPDs for materials manufacturers. With One Click LCA’s EPD generator available, manufacturers can access a simplified solution that enhances the efficiency of transparent environmental reporting while helping developers better measure and communicate the environmental impact of building materials already during the design phase.

“We are excited about entering into a close collaboration with one of the largest providers of LCA-analysis and EPD-generators. This is a perfect fit in Byggtjenestes continuous efforts to secure that NOBB is the most important platform for machine-to-machine exchange of high quality product data in the construction industry.”

- Mikkel Nielsen, CEO at Byggtjeneste

According to Direktoratet for Byggkvalitet, domestic emissions from Norwegian materials manufacturing have stabilized over the past five years, and reducing them is a key priority for the industry. Norway’s increasing prioritization of sustainability as a fundamental aspect of building design is driven by the global shift in focus from operational carbon produced during the building’s lifespan, to also including embodied carbon, such as materials manufacturing, transport, and the construction process itself. New requirements for public tenders also include carbon emissions, meaning emission reduction is a business necessity for developers.

“With the requirement to deliver greenhouse gas accounts, a 30% climate weighting in public tenders, and increased demands for environmental reporting, it is important for Byggtjeneste to establish strategic collaborations with partners such as One-Click LCA. One of Byggtjeneste's strategic goals is to be the leader in providing environmental data, and entering into a partnership with One-Click LCA contributes to this goal. Through such an agreement, we also aim to support the promotion of the establishment of EPDs among Norwegian suppliers to the construction industry.”

- Bjørn Lindebrekke, Market Manager System Suppliers & Integration at Byggtjeneste

“Our collaboration with Byggtjeneste will speed up EPD production in Norway by making EPD creation affordable, scalable, and automated for manufacturers of all sizes. This initiative goes beyond providing environmental data; it’s about empowering informed decisions and fostering an industry where sustainable products are the preferred choice throughout the construction chain.”

- Panu Pasanen, Founder and CEO of One Click LCA
