FAQs
What data is available in One Click LCA? Does it include datasets from the U.S. and Canada?
One Click LCA integrates all U.S. and Canadian EPDs. It contains more than 100k+ data points and integrates data from nearly all of the EPD platforms around the globe, including datasets from the U.S. and Canada, and uses TRACI 2.1.
Can One Click LCA help me to achieve Net Zero Goals?
Yes. Our Net Zero Tool allows you to quantify carbon savings, for example, renewable energy sources or carbon sequestration, as well as carbon-emissions. It provides a number for how much more you need to offset to comply with Net Zero Carbon definitions.
Can I use it with Revit and other BIM tools?
Yes. One Click LCA has a two-way integration with Revit and other tools like Rhino and Grasshopper.
The bidirectional nature of these integrations enables you to not only import BIM models and data into One Click LCA – but also to perform an embodied carbon assessment within Revit, Rhino, and Grasshopper.
Can I use One Click LCA for schematic design or even earlier?
You can. One Click LCA’s Carbon Designer 3D tool supports very early carbon optimization and integrates with early design tools like Rhino and Grasshopper.
Can I perform an LCA if I don’t have any material quantities?
Yes, the Building LCA tool allows you to perform life-cycle assessments at any design stage. When no material quantities are available you can generate your own using the Carbon Designer add-on. The only things you need to know are building type, gross floor area, and number of floors. The rest you can either customize or use default values. Carbon Designer will generate shoebox material quantities that can be imported to your LCA model.
Do I need to know which manufacturer my materials will come from?
You don’t necessarily need to know which vendor you’ll be procuring the materials from. If you don’t have manufacturer specific information, you can use our extensive environmental impact dataset which covers all construction product types. We integrate specific manufacturer EPDs but also generic data so that you can always find the right match.
Can I use One Click LCA to create a baseline building for LEED?
Yes, you can.
Can I import data from BIM platforms and other software?
Yes, One Click LCA integrates with multiple software platforms to make it easier to upload your material quantities. Supported integrations include: Revit, Rhino and Grasshopper, Tekla Structures, Trimble Connect, IES-VE, Designer Builder and Excel.
How can I know which materials have the highest impacts?
We have a tool that shows the contribution of all the individual structures and materials and highlights those with higher emissions. This enables you to easily locate the components with the highest emissions.
Do I need EPDs for all the materials to be able to calculate an LCA?
When calculating a life-cycle assessment you should always choose the best quality data available, which means that, if the material manufacturer you are planning to work with has product EPDs available following your calculation standard, you should use them. However, this might not be possible in all cases. If you are in an early design stage you may not yet know which manufacturer you are going to choose. When no exact information is available, you should use the second best option, which may mean similar products from another manufacturer, product category level EPD, or average LCA data for the product in question. One Click LCA provides both an extensive database of EPDs and average data for the products. We also offer more detailed guidance to our clients to help them choose the most relevant datasets.
