Stockholm, Sweden — October 26, 2024 – One Click LCA, the world’s leading sustainability platform for construction and manufacturing, announced a new partnership with Installatörsföretagen, an association for the installation sector working towards sustainable development and skills improvement. This partnership strengthens sustainability efforts within the installation industry and prepares Installatörsföretagen’s members for the upcoming expansion of the Swedish regulation climate declaration for buildings. The collaboration makes One Click LCA’s MEP Carbon Tool available to all members. The MEP Carbon tool is designed for carbon calculations of Mechanical Electrical and plumbing (MEP) installations in buildings.
By combining One Click LCA's expertise in life-cycle assessments with Installatörsföretagen’s extensive knowledge of the industry, the initiative addresses the significant emissions from the installation sector, where MEP systems can account for up to 50% of a building’s embedded carbon emissions, according to a CIBSE study. Reducing these emissions is critical for lowering the overall environmental impact of the construction sector.
The MEP Carbon Tool now enables Installatörsföretagen’s members to measure and reduce the climate impact of their projects in a simple and cost-effective way. The tool integrates environmental product declarations (EPDs), carbon footprint (CFP), TM65, and both generic and manufacturer-specific data for materials like concrete, steel, and wood. One Click LCA incorporates all qualifying data worldwide as soon as available, ensuring rigorous quality through expert reviews and AI tools. This approach provides users with comprehensive and reliable sustainability assessments.
“The installation industry plays a crucial role in building sustainability. Through this collaboration, we're equipping Installatörsföretagen's members with the tools they need to measure, understand, and ultimately reduce the climate impact of their projects.”
- Panu Pasanen, CEO & Founder of One Click LCA.
“Our members are the engine in the transition to a climate-smart society. We want to help companies take further steps to reduce emissions from installations, which One Click LCA’s climate calculation tool enables.”
- Térèse Kuldkepp, Sustainability Expert at Installatörsföretagen.
This collaboration marks an important milestone in the pursuit of creating a more sustainable construction sector, with a special focus on reducing the environmental impact from installations in buildings.
