HVAC and electrical EPDs: demand is growing, is your data ready?

The second VELTEK and One Click LCA session looks at the commercial side of EPDs. Data centers are the clearest early example.

Specifiers, contractors, and building owners are asking HVAC and electrical manufacturers for product-specific carbon data more often. Over the next few years, both regulation and procurement will push those requests up sharply.

Data centers show where this is heading. In One Click LCA’s benchmark of 22 European data center projects, embodied carbon came to about 2.5 times the whole-life carbon limit set for offices, and HVAC and electrical equipment caused most of it. Hyperscalers now ask their suppliers for embodied carbon data. When you have no EPD, the project’s LCA falls back on generic, conservative data, and your product looks worse than it really is.
