One Click LCA integrates bill of materials cost-estimating software to help customers prepare for upcoming Carbon Bill and Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) requirements in the UK and Ireland.
July 1, 2024 - One Click LCA, the world leader in life-cycle assessment (LCA) software for construction, today announces a new strategic partnership with Building Software Services (BSS), the UK and Ireland-based specialists in construction, estimating, and bill of quantities production software.
The integration partnership is taking place in response to the recent announcements about the upcoming Carbon Bill and Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) changes. Estimating both the financial and embodied carbon cost of a construction project will be mandated for any EU member country from 2028 for buildings over 1000m2 in size, and for all construction sized projects from 2030. The Irish Government is an early adopter of this new EU Directive by encouraging consideration of the "carbon cost" of all capital works projects from the 1st of January 2024.
The strategic partnership, integrating One Click LCA’s LCA software and BSS’ Cubit Estimating software, will enable construction professionals including Cost Consultants and Quantity Surveyors, to easily provide both the embodied carbon cost, and financial estimate of their projects.
“Embodied carbon impacts are soon going to be as integral to major developments as the financial estimates. ‘Carbon as a cost’ is a significant development in the sustainable construction landscape, and this partnership with BSS will enable users to prepare for upcoming mandates by having embodied carbon impacts included in their estimates from the early stages of every project. We’re excited for the potential that this partnership brings.” - Panu Pasanen, Founder & CEO, One Click LCA
“BSS prides itself in being both an innovator in the industry and closely listening to our customer’s feedback. This past year when the talk of the carbon bill grew within our customer base, one name was repeatedly mentioned — One Click LCA. When we reached out to One Click LCA we were delighted with their enthusiasm to engage and partner with us. We believe that our partnership will provide the industry with the ideal solution for estimating and carbon bills, allowing users to seamlessly move into the next generation of construction consulting.” - Pat McCarthy, Founder and CEO, Building Software Services Ltd (BSS)
