One Click LCA launches new digital solutions to turn regulatory requirements into growth opportunities
5:58

Construction and manufacturing companies face a decisive shift in market access as new regulations on carbon disclosure and life-cycle assessment (LCA) take effect from 2026. One Click LCA’s latest release delivers compliance-ready digital solutions that help the industry handle the new regulatory reality.

Helsinki, Finland (October 16th, 2025) One Click LCA, the world’s leading life-cycle assessment platform for impact, compliance, and growth, has today announced the release of a new set of tools that help architects, engineers, construction companies, and materials manufacturers comply with the several new sustainability regulations that come into effect from 2026 onwards. The solutions are launched at a time when the industry is scrambling to remain compliant and competitive, as sustainability requirements and certification standards are being raised across Europe and North America.

In the European Union, the revised Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) will require life-cycle carbon disclosure for new buildings through Energy Performance Certificates, the revised Construction Products Regulation (CPR) will make verified carbon disclosure mandatory for construction products placed on the EU market. The Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) will impose verified carbon reporting obligations on imports of carbon-intensive building materials. At the same time, international certification systems such as LEED v5, BREEAM v7, and the RICS Whole Life Carbon standard v2 are raising carbon performance requirements across global projects.

“Carbon compliance isn’t a future concern — it is already reshaping design, procurement, and approvals. One Click LCA’s new solutions address urgent needs we hear from our customers in construction and manufacturing, with compliance under the new regulatory framework being top of mind throughout their operations, from the early design to the portfolio-level reporting required under the new regulatory framework.  Compliance is no longer optional, and those who adapt to the new regulatory landscape early will be the ones who come out ahead.”

Turning carbon compliance into a design advantage

In addition to securing compliance with key upcoming regulations, One Click LCA is launching major upgrades to its Carbon Designer 3D early design tool, including generative design and free hand drawing building shapes, letting architects and engineers test different material choices in the design phase, to find the best possible solutions with the lowest carbon emissions. Additionally, One Click LCA has introduced an AI assistant specifically built to support materials selection without requiring highly technical or specific prompts or searches. Project outputs can then be benchmarked and validated against a One Click LCA baseline, flagging possible anomalies and ensuring transparent reporting. The new solutions also include life-cycle costing tools that help project managers balance costs and carbon in the development process.

Manufacturers lose market access if they aren’t compliant

For manufacturers, compliance is no longer a back-office task, it determines whether products can reach the market. The EU Construction Products Regulation will start requiring verified carbon data embedded in digital product passports in a number of product categories from 2026 onwards, and will be expanded to further categories in the coming years. Furthermore, CBAM will add carbon pricing to imports of steel, cement, aluminum, and other sectors. Additionally, the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) is expanding reporting and circularity obligations to an increasing range of product categories.

One Click LCA’s expanded compliance suite addresses this by providing a single platform that scales across the entire portfolio and adapts to evolving rules. Manufacturers can automate EPD creation and updates for thousands of products, reduce costly corrections with built-in pre-verification, and ensure their data remains audit-ready under CPR and CBAM. Tools for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning, as well as mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, close major data gaps, while market intelligence modules reveal where EPDs are being used and by whom — helping commercial teams influence and defend specifications and inform product strategy.
