Sumitomo Forestry & One Click LCA partners to cut construction carbon

Helsinki, Finland, February 07, 2022 — One Click LCA announces a new partnership with Sumitomo Forestry Co., a Japanese company with over 330 years’ history of sustainability.

One Click LCA partners with Sumitomo Forestry Co. to cut construction carbon in Japan

Awareness of the need to tackle embodied carbon is growing in Europe, but in many other parts of the world, including Japan, efforts to decarbonize construction continue to focus on operational energy use. One Click LCA has partnered with Sumitomo Forestry Co., a Japanese timber and wooden building materials and housing company, who will resell One Click LCA in Japan and provide first-level user support in Japanese. The partnership aims to raise awareness of the need to calculate and reduce whole-life carbon emissions to reach carbon neutrality in construction. In addition, One Click LCA’s building LCA and Carbon Designer tools are now available in the Japanese language. Sumitomo Forestry is a sustainable timber and wood trading company specializing in building materials and construction. Sumitomo has an R&D concept, known as the W350 Plan, which aims to build a 70-floor, 350-metre wooden skyscraper in Tokyo as one of its technical goals. Sumitomo Forestry plans to work with housing and real estate industry groups to build a foundation for embodied carbon calculation through One Click LCA. The company will also support timber and building material manufacturers in creating EPDs (Environmental Product Declarations) for their materials and offer zero-carbon consultancy to promote more low-carbon construction in Japan.
